Do you find that all conversations with your child consist of the following phrases repeated endlessly by you?
Please bring your bowl (cup, plate) into the kitchen.
Get your coat.
We're going to be late!
What is your homework for today?
It's time to put on your jammers.
Please pick that up off the floor.
Let's go! Let's go!
I'm also wondering if it's just me or if anyone else has a first grader or thereabouts who will simply NOT BE QUIET FOR EVEN ONE MINUTE. If he is not talking, he is singing. If he is not singing, he is whistling. If he is not whistling, he is making some sort of weird unintelligible noises. He never stops, not while brushing his teeth, not while eating. As long as he is conscious, he is making noise.
Does your child like to hide and/or sneak up on you? Considering that he is always making noise, this doesn't always work so well for him, but that does not deter him. "Mom! Close your eyes!" is the common refrain. He then proceeds to crawl under the table or squat behind the TV and act disappointed that I always know where he is. On occasion he has been able to jump out of a closet at me as I leave the bathroom, and all I can say about that is that it's a good thing I have just emptied my bladder, because I do not like to be startled.

I have a 13-year old boy who cannot stop making noise.
The others? They make noise, but not as obsessively.
Aaaaaaack!

I say all of those things at least once a day.
And yes, my 8-year-old can NEVER be quiet. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

For some reason, "Don't step in the cake" is near the top of my list. Getting a mental picture? I'm thinking of making it the family motto.

I know EXACTLY how you feel about the constant noise, only mine is multiplied by two. I have a 7 yr old daughter who hasn't stopped making noise since about 5 minutes after she was born (when she was a baby, she used to squeak in her sleep...it was the cutest thing!) and a 4 yr old son who was very quiet for the first 2 yrs, but is now making up for lost time. Their favorite thing to do is compete to see who can make the most noise to get Mommy's attention!
Be happy you get quiet when he sleeps...BOTH of mine talk in their sleep! It's a darn good thing they are both so unbearably adorable!
But I bet some day we will be complaining about how quiet the house is! We Mommy's are impossible to please! :)

Ty's going to turn 14 next month, and he's only just now starting to gift us with some quiet time. He usually has background music, though, which cancels out the lack of shooting noises and endless jabber coming from his own mouth. It's exhausting, all of that sound. He was just away for 4 days, and the silence? Heaven. Absolute Heaven.

Christ on a Triscuit - THE NOISE - what is it J, with the NOISES? The wierd things that are going on with their mouths? CONSTANT NOISES. It is enough to make me drink...more.
And Yes, the sneaking. The poorly conceptualized sneaking up on...Last night she called me in to start her shower. I KNEW she was in the bathroom. She hides behind the door and jumps out...Was I suprised? No. Not so much.

I also have to yell "Don't drink THAT" more frequently than I would like

Mine are more like "Don't hit. Want some Cheerios? Did you poop? Don't hit."

Hi, Janeen. What I've said (or yell to be exact) so often to my toddler lately is "Oh God, DON'T BITE ME!!" ;).
Btw, I'm interested with your blog post. So, I hope you don't mind if I put the link to this post in my blog entry. It's about "Single Moms Update".
Thanks.
